Governors
Annual newsletter: 2010 click here
Our Lady of Lourdes is a Voluntary Aided school under the authority of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. The responsibility for running the school is put into the hands of the Governors.
The Governing Body is made up of various categories of Governor. Foundation Governors form the majority. They are appointed by the Archbishop to ensure the aims and objectives of the Archdiocese are maintained. Other Governors are appointed to represent staff and parents at the school. These are the Governors:
Foundation Governors:
Father Pat Armstrong
Anthony Brown (Vice Chair)
Christopher Flynn
Declan Jordan
David Norris (Chair of Governors)

Our Governing Body is legally responsible for the operation of the school. It meets in full normally six times a year, but mainly works through smaller committees dealing with:
Resources (Finance, Buildings, Health & Safety, Human Resources)
Curriculum and Standards (Standards and Achievement, SEN, School Policies)
The aim of the Governing Body is not to be involved in the day-to-day running of Our Lady of Lourdes - for this we have a very able Head Teacher in Jenny Walker and a supportive and professional staff. The Governors are there to provide a strategic lead for the school, and to maintain oversight of how Our Lady of Lourdes is running and whether it is meeting the high standards we set to educate and develop our children.
We have a governing body that is a partnership of experiences and talents representing parents, staff and the Archdiocese. Our meetings are business-like but fun, and governors are proud of Our Lady of Lourdes’ end-product - our children.
