The Friends of Our Lady of Lourdes
The Friends is a voluntary organisation of parents who help to raise money for the School to purchase items not normally covered by the budget allocations. We currently have around 15 members and are always looking for more willing helpers to join. As well as being a group of parents who get together to help organise events and raise funds we use the time to socialise. We tend to meet every 4-6 weeks in the Fleece, Church Green, where we discuss the various matters requiring attention. During the course of the School year we try and plan a number of fund-raising events including the Christmas and Summer Fetes, discos, sponsored Keep fit for the children, Bingo and others. If you join the Friends committee you can donate as much or as little time as you can spare, every little bit of help is most welcome. Some of our members have been with us for over 5 years as their children have progressed through the School. Last year we raised nearly £5k, which was spent upon such items as Computer whiteboards, televisions and moveable “wet gear” trolleys for the Foundation class as well as many other smaller items. Every year we arrange for the Christmas pantomime for the children and provide voluntary help to the school whenever possible.
